Wood, native binding, feathers and natural and synthetic pigments

Condition

There are many areas of pigment loss particuarly to the yellow pigment and some feathers are broken or missing. There are two fine cracks approximately 3 to 4 cm long near the upper rear of the mask.

This striking mask was acquired by the vendor at an estate auction in Adelaide, South Australia. Its bite stick is attached to the reverse, and the six holes near the rim appear to have been created using a heated implement and have been burnt through
