This clock in Louis XVI style is one of 131 bronze objects and clocks listed in Linke's pocket notebook together with prices. An expensive model, the present lot had a retail price of 925 francs. Consistent with the other 130, there are no details in the cabinetmaker's Daybooks and as yet no discovery has been made as to where Linke purchased the master patterns for this celebrated neoclassical model.
