acajou, black and gold Japanese lacquer, stained sycomore, buis and ébène stringings, the top lined with a gilt-tooled green leather writing surface, three frieze drawers, the central drawer with a secret spring-release button, the carcass stamped twice HENRY DASSON / 1878, and a further signature to the bottom right hand side of the central drawer henry Dasson . 1878.

It is interesting to note that the handles of the present lot are copies of the model used by Jean-Henri Riesener on the serre-bijoux made for the Comtesse de Provence, and now in the permanent collection of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castle.  Please note that the sole 19th century copy of this serre-bijoux is offered in this sale as lot 105.
