Catalogue Note

Together with Karlsbad, Teplitz ranks as one of the finest Bohemian health resorts. After the Battle of Culm in 1813 the headquarters of the monarchs of Austria, Prussia and Russia was based in Teplitz. During the subsequent holiday seasons numerous glass cutters were attracted to Teplitz. Up to fifteen glass manufacturers established themselves in the city which, in 1836, numbered only 386 dwellings.
