Catalogue Note

This table, purchased by the Elkin family in the early 1960s to be used as a desk, was later used with the benches for dining at their summer home in the Hamptons.  Designed by Andrew Geller, the Elkin House was one of most notable modern homes in the area.  Geller, who spent 35 years working at Raymond Loewy and Associates, is known for both his participation in commercial projects for the firm as well for his innovative vacation homes.  Dominated by geometric shapes, the iconic Elkin House stood as a statement to his modern consciousness and a sculpture in its own right.
