There is significant brown staining to the paper throughout the lower half and in places to the upper half. There is wear to the paper at the lower edge of Fagin's feet which has resulted in a hole. There is further wear to the top of his right foot and right calf. There is a curved horizontal scratch beneath Fagin's coat (approx 20cm) and some lines of scuffing above this to the right. There is also some surface scuffing to the top of the left leg. There is a very small patch of black grazing below the centre of the left edge which may be a result of an ink blot. Held under glass in a white mount in a black and gold frame. Unexamined out of frame.
