Catalogue Note
Along the bottom edge of the verso is inscribed: The "Ciudad de Ronda, Andalucia" 1956 by David Bomberg 1890-1957, authenticated by Lilian Bomberg.
David Bomberg made his first visit to Ronda in 1934. He was immediately taken by the appearance of the town and stayed for a year. He would return to Ronda in 1954 with the intention of setting up a painting school which might ignite in his students the fervour he felt on visiting the town for the first time.
