Provenance

Sale, Sotheby's London, 4 July 2001, lot 177, whence purchased by the present owner

Condition

The canvas is unlined. There are a number of small scuffs to the paint surface, particularly to the lower edge and upper and lower left quadrants. A small indentation has been made in the lower left quadrant which co-incides with the deepest scratch. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals a small area of fluorescence in the upper right quadrant, although this appears to be the reworking of the artist. Held in a simple black wooden frame. A backboard has been fitted to protect the reverse.
