Condition
The floorboard shows various signs of damage and age although a degree of 'wear' appears to have been the artist's intention. There is a crack to the panel in the lower right quadrant, and another in the upper left quadrant. A series of nails have been hammered through the panel into two wooden supports. The immediate area around some of the nails has been worn down by their existence. There are four small holes in the top edge of the floorboard and another one in the upper left quadrant. The edges of the floorboard show signs of abrasion and the surface is uneven and pitted in places, although this would largely have been the artist's intention
The paint surface is uneven in areas across the surface, specifically around the nail heads. Numerous areas of paint loss and scratches to the paint surface are visible.
There is no sign of retouching under ultra-violet light.
The floorboard has been mounted onto two thick pieces of panel which have been attached to a thin piece of board covered in canvas. Two nails protrude from the reverse of the backboard.
