Catalogue Note

Executed in 1992, the present work was especially commissioned to illustrate Clement Freud's column 'Gut Feelings' in The Times Saturday Review. Freud recalled that Antonio was the first subject of his column ever to have invited him to dinner and he enojyed a 'memorable' feast at the Neal Street Restaurant. Freud subsequently created a Truffle Filled Potato recipe especially for Antonio and fondly described him as 'a solid man...built for the long-range mushroom hunt...'.
