Condition
The board is in good condition. The surface of the work is thick and pitted and numerous scratches and stains are consistent with the artist's practice. In particular, a 6 in. horizontal scratch in the upper left quadrant is just about visible in the catalogue illustration.
Under ultra-violet light no retouching is evident.
Held in a simple black wooden frame.
The colours are slightly darker in the flesh and the impasto is much thicker than it appears in the catalogue illustration.
