  • Le Voyageur (Le Marechal Ney a Cheval luttant contre le Vent)
  • signed and dated Meissonier 1886 l.r.

  • oil on panel

  • 54.5 by 73cm., 21½ by 28¾in.

Provenance

Arthur Tooth & Sons, London

Condition

The panel is sound. There are possibly some small flecks of retouching to the figure and the horse though a proper reading of this is hindered by a fluorescing varnish layer. There is a tiny scuff towards the upper centre edge, otherwise the paint surface is in good condition. Held in a simple gilt wood frame.
