Condition
The canvas has been relined. There is an area of retouching (approx. 5cm. across) to the background in the centre of the work corresponding to a repair to the canvas, a small spot to the kneeling woman's outstretched hand also corresponding to a repair, a few small spots towards the top edge and a few further scattered specks elsewhere. Apart from some very fine craquelure the paint surface is overall in good condition. Held in a decorative plaster moulded gilt frame.
