Catalogue Note
Painted circa 1920-1923 during the artist's stay in Mallorca (1914-1936), Alquería shows the development in Anglada's subject matter during his Majorcan period: away from his earlier folkloric themes and towards subjects derived from nature and the surroundings of Pollença. His attention was particularly drawn to old farmhouses (masías and alquerías), clouds and landscapes.
