Condition

Original canvas. There is a small spot of retouching to the man's left eye corresponding to a patched repair in the canvas. There are a few pinhead sized spots of paint loss to the extreme edges of the work and some signs of craquelure, otherwise the paint surface is overall in good condition with areas of strong impasto. This work is clean and ready to hang. Held in a plaster moulded gilt frame with a cream velvet slip.
