composed of three enamel plaques set in relief, each signed and dated C.Dotin.1876 and painted with bright colored enamels with raised gilt highlights, the border painted en grisaille in the Renaissance manner, all set within an ebonized frame with putti mask clasps.

Catalogue Note

A.C. Dotin was an enamel painter in Paris and it is interesting to note similar painted plaques are recorded on the market painted by his daughter, Madame Lucie Mansuy-Dotin, active at 5, rue des Quatre-Fils, Paris.
