Original canvas. There is a vertical line of old retouching near the extreme lower left edge visible under ultraviolet light and there may be some further cosmetic retouchings, though a fluorescing varnish layer hinders a proper reading of this. There are some signs of craquelure to the paint surface and there is a small repair to the reverse of the canvas which corresponds to the top left of the brown cupboard, though no retouchings are evident around this area. The colours are slightly brighter than they appear in the catalogue illustration. Held in plaster moulded gilt frame.
