Condition
Bridge over the Canal:
The panel is sound. There are a few pinhead sized dots of retouching visible under ultraviolet light. There are some signs of craquelure, notably to the area underneath the bridge and to the tree to the left. The work is covered in an old varnish layer which has discoloured slightly over time (visible in the catalogue illustration). This work would benefit from a light surface clean. Held in a plaster moulded gilt frame.
Beside the Canal:
The panel is sound. There are a few scattered pinhead sized dots of retouching visible under ultraviolet light. There are some signs of craquelure to the paint surface notably in the tree and in the house to the right of the work. The work is covered in a varnish layer which has discoloured slightly over time and would benefit from a light surface clean. Held in a plaster moulded gilt frame.
