Condition
Original canvas. Some of the pigments fluoresce under ultraviolet light, notably around the horse's hind legs (visible in the catalogue illustration) and the soldier's head though this may be the artist's original pigment, otherwise the work is in very good overall condition. Held in a simple wooden frame with a gilt slip.
