Condition
The board is sound. There is a vertical line of retouching visible under ultraviolet light towards the right edge of the work corresponding to an old crack in the board and a few strokes of retouching in the sky towards the upper right corner. There are some signs of craquelure, notably a line towards the right edge (visible in the catalogue illustration) corresponding to the aforementioned crack which has resulted in a couple of pinhead sized spots of paint loss, otherwise the paint surface is overall in good condition. Held in a decorative plaster moulded gilt frame with a dark brown wooden slip.
