There is some wear to the patina consistent with age and some surface dirt, otherwise the condition is very good

Catalogue Note
Bayre was refused entry into the Paris Salon of 1843. Determined to find a way to circumvent the formalized system, he authorized the foundry of la maison Besse et Cie to produce a catalogue offering sixty-two of his models for sale. Bayre's wolf and stag group was listed in the Catalogue des bronzes e la maison Besse et Cie. Seul dépôt des bronzes de Barye, Rue Choiseul, no. 17, Paris of that year as Cerf et Loup and continued to be offered in all of his subsequent catalogues. This cast is by the Barbedienne Foundry who first produced the model in 1877.
