2 single leaves, 179mm. by 122mm., 8-line miniatures, (a) Saint Nicholas as a bishop blessing the three children in the pickling tub, 51mm. by 43mm., and (b) Saint Geneviève standing in a landscape with book and taper, 50mm. by 41mm., each miniature with a three-quarter illuminated border of coloured flowers and fruit with acanthus leaves on grounds parti-coloured in liquid gold, both on the verso of leaves with 18 lines of text, written-space 113mm. by 62mm., illuminated initials, fine condition, lightly mounted

Catalogue Note

From the same manuscript as the previous lot.  Saint Geneviève was patron of Paris.  When she went to church at night a demon would appear with bellows to extinguish her candle and an angel with a taper to rekindle it, as here.
