A fine and rare gold curved rectangular wristwatch, Cartier, London, Jaeger-LeCoultre, 'Large Elongated Curved Tank' model, 1975

18k, tonneau nickel lever movement, 17 jewels, glucydur balance, free-sprung regulator, unadjusted, silvered dial, large exaggerated Roman numerals, blued steel hands, large curved rectangular case with enlarged bezel, cabochon sapphire-set crown, back secured by four screws in the band, case stamped with Cartier reference numbers and hallmarked with London import stamps for 1975, dial signed Cartier, movement signed Jaeger-LeCoultre, with an 18k gold Cartier deployant buckle stamped with London Import marks for 1975.

Cartier London launched this model, the 'Large Elongated Curved Tank', in 1969, largely inspired by the design of the 'Tank Cintrée' model from the 1930s. For this series, Cartier London worked with Jaeger-LeCoultre, a firm closely tied to Cartier from the early part of the century.

At the time of production, this model was made in a limited series, and today this is a very rare model to come to auction.
