Catalogue Note

Common was a brown colt foaled in 1888 by Isonomy out of Thistle. He won four races from five starts and lifted the Triple Crown in 1891 by winning the 2,000 Guineas, the Derby and the St Leger. His other victory was in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. As a stallion he sired Nun Nicer who won the 1,000 Guineas in 1898.

 

Common was owned by Sir Frederick Johnstone trained at Kingsclere by John Porter.
