In I. Shmidt, Evgeni Alexandrovich Lanceray, 1848-1886, the author refers to a period when Lanceray sculpted models based on folk and fairy-tale characters. It was more common for them to be produced in 1850s, this is believed to be an example of the more rare works made circa 1880.
