Catalogue Note

Anne Michie Jones (1879-1958) was the eldest daughter of John Michie, MVO, Commissioner at Balmoral, the longest serving ghillie in the history of the estate, who organised the visit of the Tsar and Tsarina to Balmoral in 1896.  Although the present lot could not have been presented then, Anne enjoyed an association with the British Royal Family throughout her life, her husband Walter Jones, having served as tutor to Prince Albert, later George VI.
