the baluster-shaped burnished gilt body tooled with laurel and berry wreaths, fan motifs, palm leaves and further foliate ornament, scroll handles issuing from acanthus leaves and terminating in rosettes, the central reserve with a finely painted portrait after Franz Krüger's Portrait of Emperor Nicholas I Pavlovich, with overglaze blue Imperial cypher for Nicholas I

A porcleain vase produced by the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory and decorated with a similar portrait was sold in Sotheby's Russian Sale, 1st December lot 234, for £96,000.
