the cavetto painted with a scene of a Russian palace, the border with fine gilt frieze of rosettes and scrolls, inscribed in Cyrillic to the reverse: View of the outbuildings and main house in the small town of Gruzino / Archangelski, 1827, with blue manufactory mark for Sevres
Catalogue Note
It is more common to find plates with cavettos decorated with roses after Redoute. For an example of this type see the Sale of the Property from the Collection of Mrs Marella Agnelli in New York, 23rd October, lot 3. The offered lot with a painted topograhpical scene is a more rare example of porcelain painted in Archangleski.
