the cavettos with finely painted classical figures set against a red background in hexagonal frames, the borders with similar classical images in red medallions, one with a faun and two centaurs the other with three winged cherubs, further decorated with griffins, other mythical creatures and foliate bands, one with gilt Imperial cypher for Alexander III dated 1891, the other Nicholas II dated 1903
