The plate is unsigned but the design is believed to have been composed by Yelizaveta Rozendorf, artist and theatre designer.  She studied under Chekhonin but worked in the Ministry of Agriculture and only painted part-time.  Her subjects tended to have a rural theme; other compositions included Fisherman, Potter and Men, Women, Pheasant, Peacock.
