Catalogue Note

In this, his seminal work (first published in Edinburgh in 1705), Law argued (erroneously) that increased money supply would lead to increased output, which in turn would lead to an export surplus.

The present state of the British court contains valuable information about the officers, their duties and salaries, of the royal household, the army and navy, the courts and the government, including: the officers and servants of the princesses' households, the Master of the Tennis Court, the Lord Almoner, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Master of the Horse, grooms, wine porters and the groom of the Stole.
