The small lizard crawling around a large gnawed hole in the side of the pear, another gnawed section on the reverse, the skin of the fruit is carved with ukibori pimples.

The work is in the manner of Kogetsu, Sangetsu and others, popularly known as the "Wasp in pear" carvers, discussed by Raymond Bushell in Collectors' Netsuke, pp.83/84.
