Catalogue Note

According to Kreijger this finely painted thanka may be dated to circa 1690 by the presence upper right of the unordained sixth Dalai Lama , Tsangyang Gyatso (1683-1702), see Kreijger, 2001, p. 92, no. 31. Post ordination in 1697 the cap would change to the tall peaked yellow hat of the Gelukpa hierarchs.
