veneered in rosewood, bur walnut and inlaid with marquetry, the lid and all four sides enforced with straps of gilt brass, the lock plate applied with spring loaded keyhole cover, the sides with handles, the inside of the lid fitted with correspondence compartment, the drop front revealing two small drawers, either side inserted with threaded rods to secure the casket, two screws missing
