Catalogue Note
according to Rovinski and Hind [1], there is possibly another state between state I and II. This state shows a black spot at the end of the sitter's nose, due to a mark on the plate. This spot was removed by hand from some impressions of the second state. A second line is already visible at the end of her nose in the unique impression of the first state. The third state reveals that the plate was cut into an oval, as took place after Rembrandt's death [2].
