A very fine gothic ivory Madonna and Child, French, probably Ile-de-France circa 1350

carved in low relief with the Virgin Mother seated, offering Her left breast, the Child standing on Her left knee, Himself offering a spherical fruit, extensive traces of original gilding and paint, verso with paper label inscribed in ink XXI, the crown replaced in wood, on a later base of ivory and ebony, the base inscribed 5188
