Description

  • height 42cm
lightly conical and engraved with a bold foliate pattern centred by a six petalled flower, inscribed DIS.SE.KAN.NE.GE.HOE.RET.DEM LOBLICHEN HANDWERK DER LEINEWEVER ZV LVCKEWADE., also engraved on the lid with the names of MERTIN RIDER, LEHE HERMEN, ICOP FREISDORF and VALTIN SCHVLZE and the date 1592 flanking the three marks, below the rim, added at a later date the names of IACOB ZIKOW, CHRISTOFFL RIEDTER, BALTZER ZIKOW, BALZER DENWITZ, ORWEN ZIKOW, DAVID FVRMAN, DAVID DENNEWITZ, the bottom cast with a circular medallion of Christ on the Cross flanked by Mary and St. John, silver-grey waxed patina, split on shoulder of lid and bottom
