the raised centre cast with the seated figure of Mars surrounded by the allegorical figures of the Four Elements and thus inscribed, plain cavetto, the border cast with the allegorical figures of the Four Continents and thus inscribed, within oval cartouches, alternating with four male figures representing Julius Caesar, Ninus, Cyrus and Alexander the Great, the reverse later engraved with the initials S.R.M.; the reverse cast in the centre with a portrait of a man in profile, the exergue inscribed SCVLPEBAT.CASBAR.ENDERLEIN, repair soldering in several places, dark grey varnished patina
