A Tsimshian Polychromed Wood Clapper

carved in two sections, the uppermost, in the form of a whale, with a broad downturned mouth, lips parted to reveal teeth, circular eyes, a drilled blow-hole, and a dorsal fin, the lowermost, with an inward curving tail, the grip joined on the underside with a series of three pegs; the whole painted with black and red pigments.
