An English embroidered and metal-thread valance panel, in Oriental style, circa 1700 - 1710

the natural linen ground, false quilted overall in tiny yellow silk running stitches, with repeat design of palmettes, clouds, exotic blooms worked in bright silks and metal thread, together with a `bargello style’ narrow strip of tent stitch, probably English, first half 17<sup>th century, with embroidered shaped `c’-scrolls around a stem, on a beige ground (83cm. x 15cm.) and a shallow box enclosing sections of ribbon, metal-thread braid, small fragments of 18th -19th silk lampas and damask, which includes two fragments of duck-egg blue silk with silver-gilt applied floral applique (90cm. x 19cm. and 93cm. x 20cm.) (Qty)</sup>
