Catalogue Note
A version of this painting dated 1907 was in the famous collection of Sir Merton Russell-Cotes and is now at the art gallery he founded in Bournemouth. Another version of this picture is known (Christie's, 8 February 1991, lot 192) showing less of the awesome mountain landscape, entitled Through the Glen, The Mantle of Winter. The view is in Glencoe, Argyllshire a favoured location for Hurt's paintings.
