Catalogue Note
A plaster and a bronze version of this model were exhibited in the 1990 exhibition in Verbania. The bronze in the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome is also dated 1893 but on the front edge of the base which is deeper than on the present cast and may account for the difference in height.
Buffalo Bill's Grande Spettacolo del West arrived in Milan in 1891 and became the source of inspiration for many artist's. Troubetzkoy certainly visited this show and made a pendant model to the present Vedetta entitled In Corsa. Both these models were exhibited in Rome in 1893 and in the same year in both Chicago and Intra.
