Catalogue Note

The original Kremlin service was commissioned by Nicholas I to the designs of Professor Solntsev.  He drew upon 17th Century metalwork as a model, and specifically a gold dish made in 1667 for the Tsaritsa Natalia Kirilovna.  Replacements produced by Popov Manufactory are rarely found on the market.
