Catalogue Note

This archive is believed to have been the property of General Vladimir Nikolaevich Voeyikov, who was Palace Commandant of the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoe Selo between 1913 and 1917. He was a constant companion of the Tsar and was with him in Mogilev at the time of his abdication on 1st March 1917. This collection is a fascinating portrayal of the General's time spent with the imperial family and in particular the Tsar.

The lot is offered together with a first edition in Russian of With and Without the Tsars, by General Voeyikov (one of only 1,000 printed) which includes reproductions of letters of which there are negatives in the archive.
