Catalogue Note

Lenin's pamphlet on imperialism and capitalism, written in 1916 - in the midst of World War II, which Lenin viewed as an opportunity for revolution - declared that the war on capitalism could be started in Russia.

Karl Kautsky was a member of the Second International Socialist group, following in the footsteps of Engels, but after the Russian Revolution he was an outspoken critic of the Bolsheviks, writing polemics such as "The dictatorship of the proletariat" (1918) and "Terrorism and Communism" (1919).
