Catalogue Note

first edition. The striking wrappers of this work designed by Lissitzky, with Revolutionary slogans on the lower cover, have more in common with early post-Revolutionary style than with the agit-prop of the late 1920s. The poem by Mayakovsky pays homage to the radical way of life established after the Revolution, but is full of personal allusions and is less strident than much of his earlier work. The work was reprinted the following year.
