first edition of the world's "first systematic course in aviation theory" (DSB). Zhukovsky (1847-1921) became interested in flight in the late 1880s and is best known as the founder of the Russian schools of hydromechanics and aeromechanics. He taught aerodynamics at the Moscow Technical School and the present work is a collection of his lectures on aviation. During the first world war Zhukovsky trained pilots and in 1915 was the first Russian to study the theory of airborne bombing.
