Catalogue Note

A translation from the French of the report on Secret Societies in Russia. This was commissioned by the new Tsar Nicholas I following the failed "Decembrist Revolt" of 14 December 1825. It is signed by, amongst others, the feared Minister of War, Tatischev, and signalled the beginning of Nicholas' repressionist policies.
