Catalogue Note

Nathan P. Cohen was Robert Falk's uncle.  He visited Falk in his Paris studio on Rue de la Pompé in 1929 at which time he acquired the present lot. The present work has descended in the Cohen family and has not been seen by the public for over seventy five years.

In the summer of 1928 Robert Falk left for Paris, France where he lived and worked for close to ten years.  In March of 1929, he had an exhibition at Galerie Zak with some success and the same year he traveled to Brittany, Corsica, Arles and lived in Aix-en-Provence where he wrote ``all is full of Cézanne.''
