crisply molded in low relief and brightly enamelled on either side of the body with a pastoral landscape including a three-story house and cows and sheep in a parkland, the foreground with three or four swans swimming in a pond and a figure in a boat, the cover with an unusual shell-form knop. Minor fine haircrack.

This particular pattern seems to have enjoyed some popularity during the period from about 1760-65, appearing in two versions and used to decorate both stoneware and earthenware vessels. A red stoneware teapot with similar decoration incorporating the house, was sold, Sotheby's, New York, the Harriet Carlton Goldweitz Collection, January 20, 2006, lot 130, as well as a lead-glazed cream-colored example and an enameled salt-glazed stoneware example, both decorated with a second version, omitting the house and including two long-tailed birds in flight, lots 131 and 132.
